Rev Dave Thomas

SONY DSCDave grew up in the church, but it wasn’t until a youth group night in 1974 that he was challenged for the first time to see Jesus as more than the Sunday School Jesus he knew. After encountering Jesus personally, life sped up. He got involved with Scripture Union Beach Missions and Uniting Church camps. In 2011, he was ordained as a minister in the Uniting Church. While pastoring Tallebudgera Uniting Church, he was also SU Chaplain at Tallebudgera State School.
Dave loves connecting with people. He is passionate about kids and young people and allowing them to teach us about the church that matters to them. He loves to see people using their gifts and talents to embrace Christ and His message of hope and reconciliation. Above all, he is committed to engaging community in the greatest gift he, or we as church can offer, the gift of Jesus.
Dave is committed to the Emmaus and Chrysalis movements, has a love for the outback,
4 wheel driving, his Suzuki 750, Christian and Country music, playing guitar, basketball, cricket and rugby.  He has a background in the Superannuation Industry. Dave & Sandy  moved to Gympie in June 2012. Dave took up the reins of full time Gympie Regional Uniting Church minister in July 2012.
